SCOUTING FOR FOOD

What: Food Drive to assist The Caring Cuborard, an organization that fights hunger by supplying food those in need.

The first Saturday, scouts meet at Myerstown UCC and receive instructions from Troop 20.  The Scouts, along with a parent or leader, choose a route in the greater-Myerstown area to distribute the Scouting for Food bags.

The second Saturday, the scouts again meet at Myerstown UCC for instructions.  Again, they choose a route, not necessarily the same route as the previous Saturday.  Then, they go pick up all the bags that are filled with food and bring them back to the church, where a large truck awaits to transport the food.
Where: Myerstown United Church of Christ (click here for directions)
When:
This event begins at 9 AM over two consecutive Saturdays, 11/10/2012 and 11/17/2012.

Why: Scouting for Food fosters 6 of the 10 Cub Scout purposes: Character Development, Good Citizenship, Respectful Relationships, Personal Achievement, Friendly Service and Preparation for Boy Scouts!
Pack 460 Event Coordinator: BSA Troop 20 also helps, and is the primary coordinator.

John High is coordinator for Pack 460.
What to Bring: On the first Saturday, a backpack works well to hold extra bags.

On the second Saturday (food pickup), trucks and large SUV work best, so try to use them if possible.

No refreshments are provided by the Pack, so it is suggested to bring personal water and snacks.
What to Wear: Scouts should wear their Class A uniforms both Saturdays.
